Jake Dixon's injury-plagued season in the World Superbike Championship continues, as he will not be competing at the upcoming Misano round. This news comes as a setback for the former Moto2 title contender, who made his belated debut with HRC WorldSBK last weekend at Aragon.
The Englishman's return was short-lived, as he was declared unfit after the warm-up session due to increased fatigue in his recovering wrist. Dixon's injury woes have been a recurring theme this season, following a serious wrist injury during pre-season testing. Despite his best efforts, he couldn't overcome the fatigue and had to withdraw from the race.
In a statement, Dixon himself acknowledged the situation, expressing his disappointment and the need for continued recovery. He stated, 'I'm not able to race today due to being so fatigued after returning from the wrist injury. I tried in the warm-up, but I didn’t feel that I had the strength to continue.'
This isn't the first time Dixon has had to step aside due to injury. Jonathan Rea and Yuki Kunii have already replaced him earlier in the campaign, and now the team will field another new rider at Misano in the form of Ryan Vickers. Vickers, a Honda BSB rider, will partner Somkiat Chantra in the Honda HRC team garage.
Vickers has experience in the WorldSBK Championship, having raced the full 2025 season on a Motocorsa Racing Ducati, with a best result of seventh in Hungary. He also scored a point for 15th at Phillip Island this year as a Honda wildcard.
The team's decision to replace Dixon with Vickers highlights the ongoing challenges the team faces in finding a consistent and healthy lineup. With Dixon's recovery taking precedence, the team must now focus on his rehabilitation and a potential return at Donington Park.
